IMABE technology at the renovated Valladolid Waste Treatment Centre
After a comprehensive modernization process, the Valladolid Waste Treatment Centre has become one of the most advanced facilities for the integrated management of municipal solid waste at national level.
With a total investment of €43 million, the project carried out by the UTE CTR Valladolid — formed by FCC Medio Ambiente and Zarzuela — which is also responsible for operating the service for a period of nine years, has marked a new milestone. The Valladolid CTR has been transformed through the incorporation of state-of-the-art equipment, redefining its operational model towards a European benchmark facility in terms of efficiency, automation, and sustainability.
With a treatment capacity of 212,500 tonnes of waste per year, the facility’s design combines energy efficiency, operational safety, and maximum material recovery, structuring a continuous process that transforms waste into resources.
IMABE has played a significant role in this strategic project. IMABE is a leading Spanish company specialized in the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of complete solutions for municipal solid waste treatment, recycling, and energy recovery. With more than 50 years of experience and a presence in over 70 countries, IMABE specializes in the design and manufacture of hydraulic balers, sorting plants, transfer stations, and RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) production lines.
All of this is driven by a clear mission: to transform waste management into an opportunity for efficiency, sustainability, and profitability for public administrations and waste management companies.
Specifically, at the Valladolid CTR, IMABE has supplied the following equipment:
-
Two H-200/4000 LAT balers for rejects, with a pressing force of 200 tonnes, a power rating of 2 × 75 kW, and a capacity of up to 40 tonnes per hour.
-
One H-75/1800 LAT multimaterial baler, with a pressing force of 80 tonnes, a power rating of 75 kW, and a capacity of up to 20 tonnes per hour.
-
One CH-40 baler for metal packaging, with a pressing force of 80 tonnes, a power rating of 22 kW, and a capacity of up to 3 tonnes per hour.
IMABE balers are robust, efficient, and designed for high throughput. They compact and bale mixed waste, rejects, and recyclable materials, reducing transport and storage costs at sorting and treatment facilities.
MORE THAN 3,000 INSTALLATIONS
With over 3,000 installations completed over more than 50 years of experience, IMABE’s selection for this strategic project is based on its proven ability to respond to the specific needs of each plant with comprehensive solutions covering design, manufacturing, and installation. To this end, the company operates a 40,000-square-metre facility at its headquarters in Arganda del Rey (Madrid), equipped with the latest technologies to ensure the reliability, efficiency, robustness, and durability of its equipment. In addition, IMABE has its own technical service team, guaranteeing optimal performance throughout the entire service life of the equipment.
In every project, the company works closely with its clients to provide systems with low operating and maintenance costs, easy operation, and the highest level of automation when required.
IMABE has a strong international presence through subsidiaries in the United States, Mexico, and Argentina.
